REACH for a Book Awards Banquet

On May 31, 2008, REACH held its first annual REACH for a Book awards banquet for the top readers among the more than 90 Denver public schools and 25,000 students that participated in the REACH reading program. More than 300 students, teachers and family attended the awards banquet at Invesco Field. Mayor John Hickenlooper, Karl Mecklenburg, and Susan Cordova and Kevin Patterson of the Denver Public Schools spoke to the students about the importance of reading. Michael Bennett, the Superintendent of DPS, also participated.

The event was a great success and inspirational to all in attendance. The students had a terrific time receiving their awards, meeting Mayor Hickenlooper and Karl, and enjoyed a tour of Invesco Field.
