REACH For a Book

To encourage elementary students to read 100 minutes a week outside the classroom.
In a two-tiered measurement and reward system, each child will keep his or her individual scorecard, then each teacher will post them weekly on the classroom’s scoreboard.
At the end of each reading period, each child who successfully completes the program will receive a coupon for a free buffet from Cici’s Restaurants. The top 2 readers in each school will receive a $10 certificate from The Tattered Cover.
The class with the most minutes read in the District for the year will receive a special incentives TBD later in the school year. The top 3 schools received gift certificates from The Tattered Cover for 2009.
In May of 2010, the top two readers from each school and a guest (parent or teacher) will join Karl Mecklenburg and distinguished guests, for a luncheon at Invesco Field. For 2009 each child received a swag bag and a book from the Tattered Cover.
