On behalf of the Denver Public Schools, I would like to extend a hearty thank you
again for the "Reach for a Book Program". It was an amazing experience to see so many
children and thier families at INVESCO Field celebrating their successes in reading.
The excitement in the room was palpable and we are so fortunate to have community partners
such as your foundation extend this opportunity to our students.
I wanted to share with you a portion of an email that we received from a mother of one
of the students awarded the "Top Reader" status:
I had a third grader who used to not be very keen on reading and writing, but this
year he won the Young Author's and the "Top Reader" award for his school! Both are
major achievements for him that should be recognized. My son is reading more than I
think between school and home; I don't know what our middle child is doing half the
time! He was gung ho about getting to the library today to get the summer reading
folder. (Prizes don't hurt;-)) He is a very shy, quiet kid, but maybe all his awards
this year will give him a confidence boost.
This mother really felt that your program made the difference for her child this
year. I am certain that there are similar stories behind every child who received an
award. Thank you again for your on going support
